Also a great way to make friends from the privacy of your own home! It's also nice to know that someone is usually online to chat with when we are feeling down. It does feel good to be able to openly discuss our disease and status, here we can do it without fear of our neighbors/friends/family finding out. No need to feel like there is no one else to talk too about our condition, thank goodness!

Desktop PC Software (install on computer):

  1. Our Windows (95/98/ME/XP/2000/NT) preconfigured software (either download the package to your computer and then install or click the link and simply choose "Run" button to install quicker), once installed you only have to run the program and it automatically connects to the proper server/port/channel.
  2. Install mIRC (winXP/98/ME/2000/NT) and then click this link to connect (or you can get "old school" and enter details manually; server: aidschat.org, port: 6667, chan: #HIV-AIDS).
  3. Macintosh IRC software (server: aidschat.org, port: 6667, chan: #HIV-AIDS).
  4. Unix IRC or Linux IRC freeware (server: aidschat.org, port: 6667, chan: #HIV-AIDS).

*If the web chat pages do not load in Microsoft Windows XP (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox), then you have to update JAVA, click HERE to upgrade it (unfortunately Microsoft has disabled much of JAVA abilities due to licensing agreements). If you still cannot connect, then try our installable chat software HERE (this is a program that installs on your computer, when you run the installed software, it will auto connect to our private IRC server, requires no setup, just install and run), it will always be available through yourStart/Programs/pozIRC menu.

Sometimes there will be no one in the chat room (not very often), but you still wish to post a thought or a special POZ message, well you can post to our message board! There is a section for members (have to register) or there is an area for anonymous postings (no sign up required). Keep posting related to HIV/AIDS or they will be deleted!
