Live HIV/AIDS Chat Support Group

HIV/AIDS Support Chatroom (click link):

Come chat live (dedicated private IRC server) with other HIV positive people online for support and sharing life stories (advice, share experiences, talk about meds you are taking, compare status with others, learn that we have many years left, etc). Also a great way to make HIV+ friends who can relate to you from the privacy of your own home! It's also nice to know that someone is usually online to chat with when we are feeling down or find out another POZ's perspective. Whether you are a long term survivor of AIDS or just recently diagnosed HIV positive, it does feel good to be able to openly discuss our disease and status where we can do it without fear of our neighbors/friends/family finding out (who better will relate and understand than other HIV positive individuals). No need to feel like there is no one else to talk too about our condition, thank goodness! Be positive - this is a new beginning, not the end...

We are not a "POZ Party" or adult rated type chat room (invite people to chat channel #Unmonitored for "anything goes" chat) as this is basically an online 24 hour (7 days a week) support group meeting area for HIV positive people. Keeping sex out of it also helps heterosexuals and homosexuals meet and share together without care of sexual orientations. Many newly diagnosed find their way here and we believe that they deserve a safe place to start with where they can get a serious response to questions that all the regulars have heard many times. We have on occasion even had kids as young as 12 come into the room, another reason to keep the chats somewhat "professional". Yeah, that unfortunately involves unpopular rules that might be shared in the room if a member feels the need to let you know. Don't get me wrong, regulars can get to know each other and have some fun and we have other free POZ sites for people to post a dating/meeting ad when they are ready.

You can take a quick peak in the main HIV chat room (#HIV-AIDS) by viewing our Peak Page, but you cannot reply to people there. You can only view the last 50 lines of typed text in the chatroom (updated every 5 minutes).

Founder is DaveyBoy. Why AIDSchat.org for domain name? Well DaveyBoy is AIDS status as of 2004 (HIV positive since late 1980s), HIV/AIDS chat is the focus of the website and the ORG extension was chosen to represent an organization ("not for profit" type of setting).
